A LIBRARY has reopened following a major revamp.
Easingwold Library has a computer suite, children's area and a registration service room that allows people to register births and deaths.
There is also new shelving, counters and furniture, books and audio-visual stock that cost £20,000, a children's area, IT facilities and toilets for disabled people.
The chairman of North Yorkshire County Council, councillor John Dennis, re-opened the library this week. The ceremony was part of a series of events that included children's activities, family history tracing, help sessions and basic computer skills courses.
County councillor Carl Les, executive member for libraries, said: "The improved facilities and new events will place the library and information centre at the heart of Easingwold's community.
"Easingwold is a key development in the county council's programme to provide quality local services to its residents. This is just one of many new buildings and revamps by the county council."
