FOR schoolboy Keith Jiggins, there was only one place to be, after home and school.
The tragic eight-year-old looked forward to his weekend visits with his grandparents to Hartlepool's Historic Quay.
And that is where a poignant memorial to Keith, who died after an asthma attack in June, was unveiled.
Grieving parents Nichola and Keith installed a bench next to the wooden playship at the quay at the weekend.
Local supermarket and construction workers have raised funds for the bench and towards buying a ventilator to help prevent similar deaths.
Keith will be missed by the staff at the Historic Quay, where he had an annual pass.
Arts and museums officer Colin Reid said: "Myself and all other staff at the Historic Quay would like to take this opportunity to send our sincere condolences to Keith's family following their recent loss. We had no hesitation in agreeing to their request of a memorial bench to be positioned at the quay.
"Keith was a regular visitor and he will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. We wish his family success with their fundraising to buy a much-needed ventilator."
Keith's parents said they wished to thank everyone who supported them after Keith's death. Mr Jiggins said: "It is difficult for us. Keith was very special. We would like people to be aware of asthma and to take it more seriously than perhaps it is."
