A CROSSING patrol point is being proposed for children crossing a busy Darlington road.
Darlington Borough Council's highways team carried out a survey in the Brinkburn Road area after receiving requests from parents.
The survey included monitoring traffic flowing through the area at peak times, between 8am and 9am, and 3pm and 4pm.
The crossing will be installed at the Major Street and Brinkburn Road junction. The council said it was aiming to operate the crossing from early next school term.
Councillor Nick Wallis, the authority's cabinet member for transport, said: "In response to parents' requests, the council has carried out surveys and established the need for a new school crossing patrol on Brinkburn Road. I am delighted that this is possible, and we aim to get the crossing point operational as soon as possible."
A crossing warden is needed to patrol the crossing. Anyone interested in applying for the post can contact Denise Caley on (01325) 388783.
