Staff and children at Middleton-in-Teesdale Primary School wore fancy dress to raise money for Children in Need.
The idea came from children at a school council meeting to decide how pupils would raise money for an annual charity event.
Each child paid 50p to come to school dressed as their favourite famous person on Friday.
Headteacher Steve Vallck said: "It has been a really fun day. There have been a lot of Harry Potters, and footballers, mostly from Newcastle and Sunderland.
"One girl came as Britannia draped in a Union Jack, and there was also an Ozzy Osbourne. Even the staff joined in. I came as Napoleon, although some of the children thought I was a pirate.
"We actually hoped to have raised closer to £100 when money all the money comes in."
