YOUNG swimmers swapped the pool for dry land at the weekend when they turned their hands to gardening.
Members of Thirsk White Horse swim team planted more than 3,000 crocus bulbs as part of the work in preparation for next year's Britain in Bloom competition.
When the bulbs flower next spring, the display will pick out the shape of a swimmer in the grass bank outside Thirsk Pool.
Myles Strudwick, of the pool, said: "Lots of our members turned out to help to plant these bulbs, under the watchful eye of the Thirsk Britain in Bloom committee.
"Unfortunately, there is nothing to show for their hard work as yet, but in a few months' time we hope the riverbank will be a blaze of colour and contributing to the success of Thirsk and Sowerby in this national competition."
