MORE than £5,000 was raised for two North-East charities at the annual Sportsman's Dinner.
The charity event was held by the Darlington Bondgate Round Table at the Dolphin Centre in the town, and the money will be split between St Teresa's Hospice, in Darlington, and the Great North Air Ambulance.
About 250 guests attended the dinner and donations were also received from Barclays Bank and house builder George Wimpey.
Former England and Yorkshire cricket captain Fred Trueman was guest speaker and said afterwards that we was delighted to be associated with such deserving local causes.
