A SPECIALIST countywide family learning team has been set up across North Yorkshire to involve everyone in children's education.
The team will organise events for members of the family to learn together through a range of activities and programmes.
The county's executive member for lifelong learning, Councillor Jim Clark, said: "Family learning can be delivered in the classroom, where parents and carers can gain a better understanding of school life and form an even better relationship. It can also be delivered in other venues.
"This was evident during the recent family learning week, when 2,000 children and families enjoyed taking part in many exciting activities all over the county.
"It was amazing to see so many families participating in the event and also learning so much while having a good time."
Family learning manager Pam Collins said: "We are putting together a plan which will make a real difference to the lives of many families living in the county.
"We want to host a variety of family learning programmes which give adults and children the chance to learn, achieve and gain new skills together."
