A TEAM leader at Garlands Hartlepool call centre won top honours at this year's North-East Contact Centre Awards.
Sylvia Bone beat stiff competition from a record number of entrants to walk away with the award for Going Beyond the Call of Duty.
She was recognised for her dedication to Garlands and its clients and for her tireless work for charity.
The work of Garlands' team leader Andy Harland was also recognised at the awards after he was named a finalist in the Positivity Award category.
With the number of call and contact centres in the North-East nearing 100 and employment figures standing at about 35,000, the sector has become one of the most buoyant and productive in the UK.
About 280 regional industry representatives attended the awards dinner held to acknowledge the achievements of workers.
Organised by Tyne and Wear Development Company - in association with Sunderland and Newcastle City Councils - the accolades consisted of nine categories and attracted sponsorship from Contact Centre Professional (CCP), Northern Recruitment Group (NRG), Anderson Business College, the Whyman Group, Job Centre Plus and the North-East Contact Centre Academy.
