A TOWN'S young people have been rewarded for outstanding contributions they have made to clubs and organisations over the past year.
Willington Community Partnership chairman County Councillor Brian Myers presented the awards to prominent members of groups in the town.
The partnership asked groups to nominate a member to receive the awards, in recognition of the efforts they make for the community.
The awards used to be presented by the Royal British Legion Willington branch, which disbanded last year but wanted the achievements of young people to continue being recognised.
Prizes also went to young people who took part in the town's Remembrance Day parade.
The winners were: Andrew Richardson, Willington Army Cadet Force; Matthew Todd and Scott Allinson, St John Ambulance; Roland Robinson, 4th Willington Scouts; Ben Hope, 4th Willington Cubs; Christopher Appleby and Stephanie Milburn, Willington Youth Theatre; Paige Pearson, Aycliffe and Brancepeth Brass Band and Thang Van Nugen, Willington Youth Football Club.
