TWO local authorities are hoping for a green Christmas - rather than a white Christmas - this year.
Sedgefield Borough Council and Durham County Council are urging residents to recycle waste over the festive period.
A Green Santa will give advice on Saturday, December 4, from 10.30am to 2pm, during a fun day at Spennymoor Community Learning Centre.
After Christmas, The Butterwick Hospice will collect cards from schools and libraries throughout Sedgefield to recycle. Cards can also be left at Tesco supermarkets in January.
