Barnard Castle will hold its traditional Christmas celebration next week.
The event, organised by Barnard Castle Town Council, will take place around the Christmas tree in Galgate at 6.30pm.
There will be the usual carol singing and attractions this year include a nativity tableau, children and adult choirs, the arrival of Santa and lights will be switched on for both the Christmas tree and, for the first time in several years, the crib. The event will be hosted by Steve Wight of Radio Teesdale.
At 7pm, the celebrations will move into the Methodist Church Hall to Santa's grotto, with free presents for all the children. There will also be children's entertainment and refreshments.
