A POLICE office is to be opened in Stockton to give residents better access.
It will be held in Newtown Community Centre, in Bishopton Lane, and the plan is to hold surgeries two days a week, when residents can drop by to discuss issues of concern.
Sergeant Paul Haytack, of Stockton Police, said: "Many people use the centre throughout the week for various events, from sporting activities to the learning resources that are available, and I would like to see people coming into the office to discuss policing within their area."
Initially, one police officer and two community support officers will be available for a couple of hours, twice a week. The hours will be increased if the scheme proves successful.
