A NOISY neighbour received a loud wake up call when council officers arrived to confiscate her music equipment.
Mother-of-two Vicki Wedlake was stunned when Environmental Health officials, backed by police officers, knocked on her door after numerous complaints about the noise, which often carried on from 9pm until 6am
Residents became so sick of loud music and mid-week parties at the house that they called in Middlesbrough Borough Council to turn down the volume.
But the 24-year-old ignored legal notices to curb the noise.
Council officials yesterday arrived at the address in Langridge Crescent, Berwick Hills, where they confiscated a stereo, four speakers, an ntl box, Sky box, a video and two DVD players to silence the problem.
Environmental Health Officer Andrew Tickle said: "We have served legal notices on the tenant to curb the noise, but there have been several breaches.
"The complainant is a nearby resident who has informed us of the noise since September and we have since carried out tape recordings.
"It is usually parties with loud music from a Thursday through to Sunday but since the notices have been served, she has played music during the week as well.
"There is also loud shouting from people visiting the house and disturbing the street in the hours of darkness."
He said that there were five incidents of loud noise within two weeks of the legal notices being served.
"We obtained a warrant and we went to the property to take any equipment capable of making noise," he said.
Miss Wedlake will now be taken to court over the breaches.
But the young mum refuted claims of persistent loud noise and declared yesterday: "I'm not as bad as they make out.
"The way they've done this is disgraceful. They've come in here and took all my stuff just before Christmas and left the kids with nothing.
"My neighbours just want me out and have made it sound worse than it actually is. I have played music and had friends round but the neighbours have just got a vendetta against me. It's not fair"
Miss Wedlake vowed to go to court to have her property returned. She also revealed that she now plans to move out of the privately-rented house.
