MICHAEL Brown came out on top when the Middlesbrough and District Motor Club attracted a full entry for their East Yorkshire Centre Vic Boyes Trophy Trial last Sunday.
The trial took place among the hills at Clitherbeck Farm, Danby, where the hard overnight frost caused problems on some parts of the 12-section course.
With three laps to negotiate, the 130 competitors soon encountered problems caused by the frost. Ice at the top of the second section did no favours for anyone, with runner-up David Pye (Sherco) losing a total of eight here.
At another waterfall at the seventh section, which started in a rocky gully, Pye stayed clean and eventual winner Brown parted with two.

The Consett Motor Club also had their hands full on Sunday when they ran the North East Centre's Championship Trial over three laps of a ten-section course at Oxenlaw Valley Farm, near Consett.
A big entry of 130 riders tackled a frozen course, with ice having to be broken on a waterfall at one of the sections.
But the day got a little warmer and best intermediate James Harland put in a brilliant ride on his Gas Gas to take the outright win for the loss of only eight marks.
That was three marks less than leading expert John Crinson (Sherco) on 11, with Colin Ward a further two marks down.
