Darlington visit Cheltenham Town tonight hoping to salvage something from a miserable week which began with a humiliating 3-0 home defeat by Lincoln City last Saturday.
Quakers at least produced an improved performance in their FA Cup first round replay at Yeovil Town on Tuesday night, but still went out of the competition after Darren Way struck early in the second half.
Manager David Hodgson will want a similar display from his side tonight, but with an end product. Cheltenham, who have improved after a slow start and moved up to sixth in League Two after last Saturday's 2-0 win at Macclesfield Town, will provide another stern test.
Quakers are only three points behind them despite having their promotion aspirations cruelly exposed by the Imps. Darlington never threatened to take anything from the game and succumbed to goals by Simon Yeo and Marcus Richardson late in the first half followed by a Richard Butcher strike 20 minutes from the end.
Hodgson made three changes for the game at Huish Park, bringing in Ryan Valentine, Adrian Webster and Ian Clark for Joe Kendrick, Clark Keltie and Craig Russell.
