Darlington Borough Council's website has been recognised as one of the region's best for supporting businesses.
A Government-funded project, Working with Business, carried out a survey of all local authority websites in the country to find out what was on offer to business users.
The project's aim was to provide practical help for councils in improving their online support for business.
The survey ranked Darlington's website - www.darlington.gov.uk - among the top three councils in the North-East and 34th out of 388 local authorities in England.
Don Bristow, the council's cabinet member for resources, said: "We have worked hard to develop the website, so it is particularly pleasing that our efforts have been recognised."
