IDEAS about how to shape the future of a market town will be unveiled next week.
The Market Towns Initiative for Crook has organised a public exhibition for residents about proposals to attract more shoppers to Hope Street and Market Place.
Landscaping, paving, seating and lighting - extending from the top of Hope Street to St Catherine's Church - should encourage shoppers to spend more time in Crook town centre, while reducing anti-social behaviour and crime.
It is also hoped that the work will attract new businesses to the town which will appeal to residents of new housing developments in the area.
Details of extra parking and new signs, tree planting and other improvements will also be unveiled when the scheme goes on display in the Civic Centre from Monday until Friday.
Residents can view the exhibition and talk to advisors on Monday and Thursday, 9am until 5pm, Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am until 7pm, and Friday, 9am until 5.30pm.
