BUSINESSES and organisations that have gone out of their way to make their premises accessible to disabled people were honoured yesterday.
Darlington Association on Disability (Dad) announced the winners of its annual Access for All Awards scheme at the Arts Centre.
The overall prize went to Nationwide Building Society, in Bondgate, with the highly-commended award going to Blacketts Medical Practice.
Hair Cuttery, in the Cornmill Centre, both of Darlington's Morrisons stores and J + P Travel Services were all commended.
The awards are organised by Dad, together with Darlington Borough Council, to recognise businesses and organisations that go the extra mile to provide access for all.
