A COAST-to-coast cycle ride has helped raise £4,500 for the North of England Children's Cancer Research Fund.
The eight cyclists and two support crew, all employees at the Port of Tyne, took four days to travel the 200-plus miles between Ravenglass, in Cumbria, and Whitby, North Yorkshire.
John Young, who took part in the ride, said: "It was a real challenge, but we all came through it relatively unscathed and the feeling of cycling down the riverside towards the pier at Whitby will take some beating."
Ray Greaves, of the fund, said: "We are very grateful to these lads and the Port of Tyne for working so hard."
