TRAIN workers have won an award for helping out a cycle club.
Conductor David Craig and train driver Andy Wall, who work for Arriva Trains Northern, have won the Connections 2004 Outstanding Individual Service Award.
They were nominated by Martin Gibson, of Houghton Cycle Club, in Houghton-le-Spring, for the help they gave cyclists from the club travelling on the network.
Dyan Crowther, managing director for Arriva Trains Northern, said: "I am delighted that David and Andy's excellent customer care skills and dedication to helping passengers have been recognised by such a prestigious award. Congratulations to them both."
The awards were established to celebrate achievements of organisations, individuals and projects which have contributed most to promoting integrated cycle and train travel.
They are sponsored by the Strategic Rail Authority, C2C, the Association of Train Operating Companies and the National Cycling Strategy Board.
