A development officer has been appointed to drive forward community plans across the Hambleton district.
The Hambleton Strategic Partnership has joined forces with the Northallerton Voluntary Services Association to employ the officer.
Nicky Smith will support the activities of voluntary and community groups and the development of projects identified through the Community Planning process - which is working to improve the quality of life of the people who live and work in the area.
She will also be able to offer advice on funding to voluntary and community groups.
The post has attracted funding from Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, Hambleton District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust and the Selby and York Primary Care Trust.
Ms Smith, who takes up the position in December, will work three days a week from the Northallerton VSA offices in South Parade and can be contacted on (01609) 780458.
