AN art exhibition at St Joseph's Primary School, Norton, has been opened by internationally-renowned artist Richard Piers Rayner.
The school, which was Teesside's first primary school to achieve the Government's Artsmark Gold standard, is holding the two-day exhibition to celebrate the talents of its pupils.
Crathorne-based graphic artist Mr Rayner is Middlesbrough Football Club's artist in residence and also achieved acclaim when his comic book The Road to Perdition was turned into a Hollywood blockbuster.
Art from the school's 300 pupils has been framed and is being displayed in its hall, where parents can buy artwork to help school funds.
Headteacher Mrs Anthea Benfield said: "We believe that creativity is a lifelong skill to be developed, nurtured and valued. This exhibition will encourage pupils of all abilities, promote the value of creative arts and raise valuable school funds."
The exhibition is open today between 2pm and 4pm.
