TERRIFIED teachers put their phobias aside to face an invasion of squeaking field mice.
Squealing staff donned rubber gloves and armed themselves with disinfectant after dozens of tiny rodents were discovered at Newcomen Primary School, in Redcar.
Headteacher Barbara Linthwaite said: "We're all terrified of mice, but we put aside out fears and phobias to ensure the areas are safe and clean for the children."
The invasion started on Monday when squeaking could be heard in cupboards.
A pest control officer arrived with childproof bait traps to ensure the mice do not continue to attend school.
Mrs Linthwaite said: "We emptied all our cupboards and blocked every escape route, so the mice were running around. We needed bicycle clips around our trousers so they didn't find another escape route."
