A CRICKET club which helps youngsters keep fit while having fun is seeking new members.
Durham Young Lions, based at the Durham County Cricket ground, at Chester-le-Street's Riverside, is inviting children aged six to 11 to try out a variety of sports alongside cricket.
Each week, the group spends 45 minutes brushing up cricket skills and 45 minutes on a guest sport.
In the past, members have tried kick boxing, hockey and rugby and they are now starting a 12-week course in athletics.
Cricket development officer Graeme Weeks said: "Durham Young Lions Club gives children in the region the perfect opportunity to try a variety of sports in a fun environment while at the same time improving their agility, balance, co-ordination and speed.
"Our main aim is to encourage children to try and maintain a healthy lifestyle, even in the winter."
The club meets every Monday, from 5pm until 6.30pm. For further information, call 0191-387 2868.
