PLANS to build a supported scheme for homeless young people will be discussed by councillors next week.
Stonham Housing has lodged an application with Hartlepool Borough Council to build ten flats, plus staff and support accommodation, on land in Gainford Street, Hartlepool.
The authority has received three letters of objection from nearby residents.
The site, which is east of York Road and south of The Arches in Park Road, is presently occupied by a disused supported housing scheme, which is the subject of a separate application for demolition.
A public car park, which is still in operation on the land, would be relocated under the plan.
Members of the council's planning committee will discuss the proposals at their meeting on Wednesday.
A report to the committee says: "The development proposes to provide a supported service for homeless young people aged 16 to 25.
"It is proposed that six flats would be core units within the main building, with four move-on flats to encourage increasingly independent living.
"Support will be on a 24-hour basis."
