AN ELDERLY driver remained critical in hospital last night after a collision.
The 76-year-old man had to be cut from his car after a crash on the A167 North-West Radial Road, south of the Cowhill Flyover, in Newcastle. He suffered multiple injuries.
The other car involved, a silver Honda Legend, was found abandoned nearby.
Police appealed for witnesses to the accident, at 11.45pm on Saturday.
A similar appeal was made after the death of a girl pedestrian, aged 16, on the A19, north of the Tyne Tunnel, on Saturday.
Witnesses can contact 0191-214 6555, and ask for extension 62740 for the A167 incident or 63126 for the A19 one.
