POLICE were called to an aircraft containing Middlesbrough football supporters returning from Spain after allegations about disruptive behaviour during the flight.
The alarm was raised when the aircraft landed at Newcastle International Airport at 9pm on Friday, after claims some passengers had used foul language and disrupted safety announcements.
Passengers faced lengthy delays after the aircraft was diverted to a stand away from the main airport building and its crew were questioned by police.
The flight included about 30 fans returning from the club's 2-0 defeat by Villarreal, in Spain, in a Uefa Cup tie on Thursday.
Acting Sergeant Ian Williamson, of Northumbria Police, said three men were questioned before being released without charge.
