GINGERBREAD, which helps one-parent families, is about to start up in Scarborough.
Work is under way to form a new branch of the organisation, and members hope to have it up and fully running following a launch at a family fun day in January.
Gingerbread approached Sure Start Scarborough with the aim of setting up a branch to offer lone parents and their children advice, information and emotional support.
The core group is now ready to launch the branch with a day of family activities at the Spa Grand Hall on Sunday, January 16, from 11am to 8pm.
All lone parents are invited to attend. Tickets cost £2 per family and are available from Sure Start's base in Queen Street until January 7.
