A NEW Richmond Meet president has been appointed. Pauline Dowse became a member in 1977 after she was taken along by her sister-in-law, Ann, to do a bit of baking.
Since then, she has become an active member, especially with the ladies committee.
"I am greatly honoured to be elected president of the Meet, which is one of the longest standing organisations in town," said Mrs Dowse.
"I hope that the committee and I can once again organise another successful Bank Holiday festival of fun for all those in the Richmond area.
"We will do our best and I hope to meet as many people as possible over the weekend and at our other events."
Mrs Dowse took over the reins at the group's annual meeting.
The group's annual report showed that last year had been very successful.
As well as running the successful Bank Holiday activities, the group raised just over £4,000 for charities and good causes in the Richmond area.
Anyone wishing to join the Richmond Meet should call (01748) 822840 or attend the group's next meeting, at 7.30pm, on January 19, at the Black Lion, in Richmond.
