CHILDREN at a school in Prime Minister Tony Blair's North-East constituency are adding their support to a global education campaign.
Children at Sedgefield Primary School, County Durham, have been collecting their handprints to support Primary Education for All, one of the Millennium Development Goals.
The school's pupils proved they could read or were learning to read, by using the principles of reading to decipher a contract written in Spangla, a made-up language, and save the house of a classmate from being demolished.
The scenario helped the children appreciate the importance of education and literacy.
One of the Government-supported Millennium Development Goals is the right to free primary education for all.
The children made copies of their handprints to add to a collection gathered by Teesside One World Centre.
The collection, which acts as a petition to support the campaign, will be presented to Mr Blair next year.
