DARLINGTON trio Craig Hignett, Curtis Fleming and Adolfo Gregorio will step up their recovery from injury at Doncaster Rovers tomorrow.
Neil Maddison's reserves take on Rovers at Belle Vue and manager David Hodgson will make the trip to South Yorkshire to asses the fitness of former Middlesbrough duo Hignett and Fleming and American midfielder Gregorio.
Hignett was an unused substitute in Friday's night's 2-0 win at Cheltenham after recovering from a hamstring injury. Fleming has not played since damaging his knee at Macclesfield in September, while Gregorio has missed the last four games with shin splints.
However, the threesome have resumed training and will hope to prove their fitness to Hodgson tomorrow ahead of next Tuesday's League Two visit of Mansfield Town.
Meanwhile, midfielder Stephen Thomas faces up to a further five weeks on the sidelines with an abdominal strain. The 25-year-old was a virtual ever-present for Wrexham last season, but since joining Quakers during the summer the Hartlepool-born player has been restricted to just nine starts through injury.
"We need Stephen back as soon as possible because he is an asset to the side but we're not going to take any risks," said Hodgson.
"The lad is really down at the moment and you can understand why because he's been very unlucky with injury."
Hodgson has also played down suggestions that long-term injury victims Joey Hutchinson (knee) and Alan Harrison (broken leg) will play before the end of the season.
"They are both making good progress but I very much doubt we will see them before the end of the season," said Hodgson.
Norwegian winger Tore Hansen has returned to the club for a trial. Hansen has been playing in the Norwegian second division for Mandalskam, but is keen to clinch a move to an English side after moving to south Yorkshire to be with his partner. Hansen enjoyed a successful trial spell with Quakers during the summer, playing in several pre-season games.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Reading striker Mario Noto has also joined the club on trial. The Enfield-born 20-year-old trained with Crystal Palace during the summer after being released by Reading.
