A MOBILE library will be taking the written word to remote parts of the region.

The vehicle was sent on its way by county council leader John Dennis in a ceremony at county hall, in Northallerton, yesterday.

It will give a better library service to villages in the more isolated parts of the county

It offers lending, reference and a range of networked ICT facilities, including free access to the Internet.

The vehicle holds more than 3,000 items of new stock, including books, videos, DVDs and audio books.
