YOUNG athletes from an independent school are celebrating sweeping the board at two cross-country events.
Pupils at Polam Hall Junior School, in Darlington, competed at the Independent Schools' Cross Country contest against Teesside Preparatory and High School, Barnard Castle School, Durham High School and Sunderland High School.
Polam Hall girls took the trophies in the under-11s, under-tens and under-nines races.
A week later, at Hummersknott School, the youngsters took part in the Darlington Primary Schools' Cross Country competition.
The year five and six teams won the upper junior girls' section, and the year four team won the lower junior girls' race.
Headteacher Angela Foster said: "The girls' commitment at the running club has shone through and I congratulate each and every one of them on their efforts."
