A CHARITY that raises money for children with diabetes has benefited from a collection held in memory of the former chairman of Sedgefield Primary Care Trust. (PCT)
Staff donated more than £200 after the death of Alan Gray, who was also a member of Sedgefield Borough Council and a former Mayor of Great Aycliffe Town Council.
At a meeting of County Durham and Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust this week, his widow, Joan, presented a cheque to Dr Bill Lamb, for his Run 500 Miles charity.
Money raised is used to pay for pumps that deliver insulin to children with diabetes, removing or reducing the need for regular injections.
Dr Lamb said: "I am very grateful to Mrs Gray and the staff of Sedgefield PCT, for giving the charity the collection taken in Councillor Gray's memory."
Mrs Gray said: "Alan, being a diabetic himself, was extremely supportive of Dr Lamb's charity, which is why we chose to donate the proceeds of the collection to it."
