STREET wardens celebrated their second birthday with an open day for residents.
Wear Valley Street wardens showed residents what had been achieved since the scheme was launched.
The event was held at the community centre, in Proudfoot Drive, Bishop Auckland.
They were joined by representatives from the police, the fire service, Wear and Tees Community Safety Partnership and Wear Valley District Council.
Warden manager Roger Ward said: "We put on a buffet and Santa made a special visit for the children. Loads of people turned out and everyone had a great day.''
Since it was launched, the scheme which covers Woodhouse Close, Bishop Auckland, St Helen Auckland, West Auckland and Coundon and Leeholme, has made great efforts to tidy up the area.
So far it has helped get 159 street lights repaired, fitted 619 smoke alarms, removed 129 syringes and 258 fly tips.
Other work carried out includes removing graffiti, fitting door security catches and door viewers and removing abandoned vehicles.
