PHOTOGRAPHS that inspired a book of poems and creative writing are on show in Bishop Auckland.
The exhibition, called Northern Grit, by photographer Pat Maycroft, has opened this week at The Discovery Centre, Bishop Auckland, Market Place.
The work, which has been completed over a number of years, uses digital techniques and conventional photography.
It features a selection of images drawn from Pat Maycroft's home village of Cockfield and memories of Middlesbrough, where she was born.
Accompanying the images are a series of poems that have been written by Vane Women, a writers' group based in Darlington's Arts Centre.
Ms Maycroft said: "The exhibition tour started in the spring at Hartlepool and this is the final venue. You could say that it has come home."
The exhibition runs until Saturday, December 18. Opening hours at the Discovery Centre are 11am to 4pm, today and Saturday.
Admission is free.
