THE North-East's rich railway heritage is brought to life this weekend - in miniature.
Darlington Model Railway Club stages its 27th annual exhibition in the town's College of Technology, in Cleveland Avenue, tomorrow and Sunday. There will be a selection of working layouts depicting the region's railways past and present, including the small station at Aysgarth, in North Yorkshire, through which the Wensleydale Railway ran.
Among the interesting feature for younger visitors is a display featuring Friends of Thomas the Tank Engine.
"We believe our exhibition is a great way of encouraging young and old to take up a hobby, as well as providing a living picture of the area's railway heritage," said club spokesman Peter Way.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 5pm both days. Admission is £3 for adults, £2 senior citizens and £1.50 children, with a family ticket for two adults and two children priced £7.
