A 17-YEAR-OLD from Bishop Auckland, who stole four cans of cider from a shop, has had his referral order extended by three months.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to stealing the cans, which were worth £3.45.
Darlington Youth Court heard he had gone back to the shop and apologised since the incident, and had paid for the cider.
Youth court magistrate Valerie Matthews said: "Offending, then apologising, then paying up shows you don't really have a lot of common sense."
