TWO national touring exhibitions opened in the region at the weekend.
Durham Light Infantry Museum and Art Gallery, in Durham, is hosting Images 28 and Spotlight on Eduardo Paolozzi.
Paolozzi's screen prints broke ground in graphic art in the 1960s and played a leading role in the development of pop art in Britain.
He designed the cover of Paul McCartney's album Red Rose Speedway and produced the Piscator sculpture in London and mosaic murals at Tottenham Court Road Underground station. The exhibition features pieces from the Arts Council collection.
Dennis Hardingham, from the museum, said: "We are delighted to host this new national touring exhibition from the Hayward Gallery, which focuses on six sculptures, as well as drawings from the 1940s.
"There are also several important series of prints from the 1960s, which are some of the most innovative graphic work of the decade."
Images 28 features 80 of the best works by members of the Association of Illustrators.
Both exhibitions are staged until January 16. The gallery is open from 10am to 4pm, and admission is £3 for adults, £2 for concessions and £1.25 for children.
