TWO Age Concern projects are aimed at keeping elderly dales residents warm and well during the winter months.
A series of winter check days ending this week highlights issues such as motoring, welfare rights, heating and security.
Flu jabs are also on offer at the events, which are organised in partnership with the Durham Dales PCT and take place today at the Witham Hall, Barnard Castle, and on Friday at the Dales Centre, Stanhope, both from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
Free winter warmth packs containing a carbon monoxide detector and room thermometer are being delivered through local groups.
The packs include an NHS leaflet Keep Warm Keep Well offering advice on health and exercise, energy efficiency and grants for home improvements.
More than 400 have been given out so far.
