ONE of Darlington's most environmentally-friendly schools is launching a scheme to boost its green credentials.
Harrowgate Hill Junior School, in Thompson Street West, already has a host of schemes - from recycling and energy-saving initiatives to wildlife habitat projects.
Now it is launching the Harrowgate Hill Junior School Fones4Schools campaign to recycle as many unwanted mobile phones as possible.
The school will receive £300 for every 200 phones it collects and educational materials to support its other work.
Teacher Graham Temby said: "We are attempting to collect as many disused mobile phones as we can between now and the end of January in order to recycle them and make a little money for other eco-projects on the side.
Some of the phones collected will be re-sold while others will be recycled. Every child who takes in a phone will receive a prize.
Any business or organisation wishing to help can contact (01325) 253300.
