A BANNED driver who lost control of a car and crashed it into a wall, tried to persuade witnesses not to call the police, a court heard yesterday.
Peter Scott, prosecuting, told Harrogate magistrates, in North Yorkshire, that Robert Foster had been drinking with friends when he suggested a drive into Nidderdale.
Foster, 33, got behind the wheel of a borrowed car, in spite of having been banned for three years in August for drink-driving.
Mr Scott said the car had left the road on a left-hand bend, crossed to the offside and crashed into the garden wall of a house at Darley Carr.
When the occupants came out to see what had happened Foster, of Harlow Crescent, Harrogate, asked them not to call the police and said he would get back in touch with them to sort out the damage.
Foster admitted drink-driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance, careless driving and failing to stop after an accident.
He was jailed for three months plus 28 days to run concurrently for unpaid fines.
