A woman was left bruised and shaken after she was dragged along the floor by a bag thief.
The victim, who has not been named, was returning home after a game of Bingo at Eston Club in Middlesbrough, when she was approached from behind.
A man, wearing a hooded top, grabbed her bag and tried to escape.
But the middle-aged woman hung on to the straps and was dragged for 30 yards before letting go at around 10.40pm on Monday night.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "The victim was left shaken and grazed following the incident on Station Road. It is possible she had been followed."
The man, who was of medium build, was wearing a dark top with a white hood.
