SCHOOLchildren will soon be able to read a positive community safety message whenever they pick up a favourite book.
Teenagers in the Scarborough and Ryedale areas were asked to design a bookmark with information useful to younger children.
The winning bookmark, by Kirsty Labuschagne, from Scarborough, reads: "Be polite, kind, considerate to everyone! Defeat bullying! Save the world from more problems."
On the back, it has useful telephone numbers, such as for Childline. Copies of the bookmark will now be distributed throughout schools.
Organiser Sandra Moss said: "All sorts of issues were explored, including domestic violence, bullying, the dangers of drink and alcohol abuse and general crime."
