A TEENAGER was followed home by a man who forced his way into her house and demanded money.
The 18-year-old was walking home from Thornaby train station at about 4.20pm on Monday after getting a train from Yarm. She believes the man had begun to follow her in Yarm, then followed her onto the train.
The train arrived in Thornaby at 4.05pm and, as she walked from the station, the man followed her across Mandale Road and to Westbury Street. She lost sight of him and made her way home. A few minutes later, when she was stood in her living room, the man burst into her house and demanded money.
He pushed her onto the sofa and the girl screamed. The man ran out of the house empty-handed.
He was white, mid-to-late 20s, 5ft 10in tall and slim. He was wearing a dark hat, black jacket, dark trousers and thick black gloves. He spoke with a local accent. Police are asking for witnesses and anyone with information to contact (01642) 302610.
