TWO community projects are celebrating after winning large grants.
Greggs Trust, the charitable arm of bakery chain Greggs, has donated £30,000 to the Single Homeless Action Initiative in Derwentside. The group, based in Stanley, provides services for young people up to the age of 25. It can be contacted on (01207) 218850.
The Seaham Youth Initiative, based in Seaham, will receive £45,000 over three years from Greggs Trust.
The organisation works with young people at risk of being socially-excluded or becoming involved in criminal activities.
The Greggs Trust administers a hardship fund which itself manages funds from six other North-East charitable trusts - the Brough Benevolent Association, the Hadrian Trust, the Joicey Trust, the Sir James Knott Trust, the 1989 Willan Charitable Trust and the Rothley Trust.
It gives out grants of £50 to £150 to individuals for one-off items such as furniture, white goods, carpets and school uniforms or baby equipment.
