A MAN who died after taking an overdose of painkillers after a night out drinking had not intended to kill himself an inquest ruled yesterday.
Lee Dent, 24, of Brinkburn Avenue, Darlington, was found dead on a couch by his father, the hearing at Chester-le-Street was told.
His family said he was known to take the tablets, so that he would not suffer a hangover the next day. There was never any suggestion he wanted to end his life.
Toxicology reports found high levels of co-proxomol and alcohol in his blood. The dosage was potentially fatal when consumed with alcohol.
North Durham Coroner Andrew Tweddle ruled his death was by misadventure.
