ATHLETES from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, were successful at the recent British Colleges' North-East Championships in Huddersfield.
Girls and boys teams were entered and both have qualified for the national finals at Loughborough University in the spring.
Impressive individual performances were clocked up by Lewis Moses, who won the boys' race, and Julia Orr ,who came second in the girls' race.
PE teacher Mark Scott said: "The competition was of a very high standard and all of our students did well.
"Lewis and Julia ran particularly fine races.
"Lewis held on, and in a very tight finish just clinched victory, whilst Julia narrowly missed out on first place."
The boys' team consisted of Lewis Moses, Stephen Turnbull (tenth), Adam Gibson (16th), Neil Robinson, Matthew Lomas and Jalal Thompson.
The girls who represented QE were Julia Orr, the James triplets - Katherine (fifth), Sarah (seventh), and Nichola (16th) - and Lynsey Carveth (18th).
