A KNITTING company celebrated its 30th anniversary with a royal visit.
Prince Charles went to a Swaledale Woollens shop, in the village of Muker, during his visit to North Yorkshire last week.
David and Grizel Morris set up the company in 1974 to keep the traditions of knitting alive, as well as creating jobs in the area.
Owner Kathleen Hird said: "We wish to thank the Prince for visiting us. It fills us with imense pride to receive this royal seal of approval.
"Swaledale Woollens' presence strengthens the community and, in turn, the community ensures our survival."
The company uses British produce and employs local people to made hand-made garmets, including knitted stockings, using traditional methods.
It encourages the younger generation to take up knitting by visiting schools and craft fairs and recently set up a knitting competition for primary schoolchildren in the Swale Valley.
