HOSPITAL staff are enrolling on a course that will help them achieve information technology success.
Staff with the Tees and North-East Yorkshire NHS Trusts will enrol on a course to study the European Computer Driving Licence.
Redcar and Cleveland College has signed a deal with the trusts that will help staff achieve the European standard of IT learning.
About 200 workers at all levels will take the qualification.
The course, which is made up of seven modules, teaches people how to use a computer and packages including Word, Excel and Access.
The college operates flexible training patterns to allow employees to learn at their own pace.
Training can take place at the college, in the employee's home or at the trust's sites at Hartlepool, Scarborough and Middlesbrough.
The trust joins the growing list of NHS providers in the region that have benefited from the college's resources, including Sunderland Hospital, Easington practices, in County Durham, and South Cleveland Group.
Sarah Lindley, the information development and education manager at the Tees and North-East Yorkshire NHS Trust, said: "We first approached the college about the course in August, and we are delighted to have secured the agreement.
"People who want to build a career in the NHS need to achieve this qualification, and we are committed to helping our staff to improve their skills and offer a better service to the public."
